Green Campaigns have prepared an exhibition/Q&A forum which is aimed at local decision makers and planning officials, giving them the opportunity to explore the key issues surrounding wind power in an informal atmosphere that is unrelated to a specific wind farm application.

The event will typically run from mid-morning to mid-morning, with a buffet lunch provided for all invited guests (parish and district councilors; trade union leaders; business forum leaders; local MPs; planning officials; and co-ordinators of relevant NGOs).

Lunch is followed by one or two key note talks from experts in the wind industry, either from the planning sector or the design/manufacture/installation sector.

At the heart of the event is a series of A1 display posters that have been created by Green Campaigns. (An example of these is shown opposite.)
The object of the posters is to explain key issues with sufficient integrity and detail to be both authoritative and accessible. Subjects covered include:
· Climate change and the need for renewable energy. Planning policy in relation to international, national and local targets.
· CO2 savings from wind farms and energy payback.
· Efficiency, cost, and the operation of the Renewables Obligation Scheme.
· 'Acoustic' noise: the measurement and control of audible noise.
· Low frequency noise.
· Amplitude modulation.
· Birds and wildlife.
· Property values and related studies.
· Tourism and public attitudes.
· Wind energy unplugged: an explanation of the issues surrounding shadow flicker, TV interference, aviation and visual impact - and how potential problems can be mitigated.
· Turbine technology.
· FAQs
Also available throughout the event:
· DVD displays.
· A wide selection of pamphlets and reports.
· Facilities to print off more detailed information by request.
· Staff available throughout day to answer questions.
